Queensland dogs are lucky to have some of the best long stretches of beach that are also dog-friendly and off-leash.
If you are holidaying you can find pet-friendly accommodation nearby by using our search locator.
Burleigh Heads Beach
This fantastic dog-friendly beach gets busy on school holidays and weekends. There is a nice lagoon towards the playground end.
The Spit, Southport
This popular dog exercise area on the Gold Coast is the beach area between the Seaway (sea wall) to a signed boundary in line with Muriel Henchman Drive. There are showers and a dog tap with a bowl is available.
Main Beach, Seaworld Drive, Gold Coast
Palm Beach off-leash dog Beach
The existing Palm Beach off-leash dog exercise area has been extended along Currumbin estuary. However, dogs are not allowed in the children’s playground and grassed picnic and events area. The area is well signed and will help guide you find where you need to go. Follow the path with the blue paw prints and keep dogs on a leash until you reach the designated off-leash sections, which is located at the South of the Lifeguard Tower 13 to Currumbin Creek entrance. Dogs are permitted at both the surf beach and the lagoon.
