Chez Misty: Dog Crêperie and Café

Chez Misty: Dog Crêperie and Café

Named after the owner’s dog – Misty, a 15 yo crossed spaniel – “Chez Misty” offers dogs and humans a place to hang out in a uniquely designed restaurant. With a backyard area that has comfortable canine couches and an indoor off-leash relaxing room, this is a fun place to visit.

Somewhat of a Francophile myself, I was keen to learn more, so we caught up with them to find out about the concept behind Chez Misty - and French Crepes for every doggy!

As a French team, their aim is to offer patrons and dogs a piece of France with a crêpes menu for all. The dog menu has been specially developed by dog nutritionist Cherry, making doggy crêpes a healthy addition to your dogs’ diet.

Misty, along with owners Marc and Cherry, arrived from France a couple of years ago. Marc is originally from the French Alps and used to spend lots of time in Brittany.

Although there are plenty of crêperies in France, none of them have a doggy crêpes menu like Chez Misty. Marketing manager, Mathilde says ‘Dog cafes and restaurants are not as popular as in Australia back in France.’ She goes on to explain ‘we imagined the Chez Misty project as a hub for dog lovers, where people can come enjoy a crêpe with their dog (or without) and at the same time get services, training, behavioral or nutritional advice, participate in events and even shop what we have at our showroom.”

One place but multiple possibilities, the whole dedicated to dog’s comfort and enjoyment!

What’s on offer?

In addition to the dog-human hospitality experience, extra services are on the menu such as dog training and behavioural consultations by certified dog trainer Marc, nutrition and naturopathy consultations, dog walking, and many more to come.

Dog-human events are also coming very soon with Doga (dog yoga) and dog-human stand-up paddle sessions for everyone’s enjoyment over the summertime.

Lastly, they have added a versatile showroom at the café so people can shop high quality and styled equipment, apparel, and dogsmetics for their beloved pooches.

New events coming soon

A new addition to Chez Misty is puppy socialisation dinners, where a group of pups of the same age range can interact while Marc, dog trainer, provides some advice to their humans. Then humans and pups share a crêpes dinner.

The dog-human Stand-Up Paddle will start next week in Melbourne and for all the summertime period. Event tickets are available on the website. Doga and doggy fit are also something they will develop in the coming times.

Mathilde says ‘We also want to partner with a local dog shelter to organise some adoption days/weekends at the cafe. We’d like to fundraise for the shelter by organising some events, beach cleaning events are coming very soon.’

She adds ‘we would also like to associate with the local community, for example allowing disabled people, elder people or disadvantaged children who are not used to dogs to be able to spend a moment with dogs at the cafe.’

In these post lockdowns times, there is no reason to leave your dog home alone anymore, even less when there is a dog menu.

You don’t need to have a dog to enjoy a sweet or savoury crêpe, dogless humans are also welcome!
